Introduction

Honourable Prime Minister, during the launch of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan initiative on October 13, 2021, urged states to take the lead in developing integrated infrastructure master plans in a coordinated manner to maximize benefits in terms of job creation and economic growth. The national launch of PM Gati Shakti in Gujarat was announced by the Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 6, 2022. The primary goal of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan initiative is to ensure inter-departmental coordination and planning, enhance synchronization and prioritization of infrastructure, improve ease of doing business and reduce overall logistics costs.

As one of the first few States to adopt the National Master Plan at the state level, this initiative, as an enabling technology tool, marks a substantial step towards a promising future for Gujarat. Integral to this advancement, the respective department, as the asset owner, conducts data validation using a Maker-Checker-Approver mechanism. This structured process in the PM Gati Shakti Gujarat platform ensures regular data updates and validation, maintaining a detailed log of modifications and enhancing data quality and accountability.

Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) has been designated by the State Government as the Nodal Agency for implementing the PM Gati Shakti Gujarat - Integrated Master Plan (GSG-IMP). In collaboration with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N) and nodal officers appointed by 22 departments, GIDB integrated infrastructure information, including more than 1350 data layers from 22 departments and their 73 agencies, into the PM Gati Shakti Gujarat with total of 95 stakeholders’ portals.
