Institutional Frame Work-GIDB

The Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) was created in 1995 to enhance the influx of funds into the infrastructure sector and ensure effective coordination among various government agencies. Presently, GIDB holds the distinct and demanding role of promoting Gujarat on the international stage through proactive initiatives, aiming to foster private sector participation in the state.

As a unique organization of its kind, GIDB serves as a comprehensive body overseeing infrastructure development in Gujarat, covering both physical and social infrastructure sectors. Rather than directly developing infrastructure services, GIDB functions as a catalyst to facilitate their development.

GIDB focuses on:

  • Overall planning
  • Coordination between various sector specific departments.
  • Drafting Model Concession Agreements or providing inputs on draft Concession Agreements and PPP project structures.
  • Project preparation by conducting pre-feasibility and feasibility studies through reputed consultants.
  • Selection of Developers through competitive bidding and Challenge Route.
  • Monitoring progress of projects
  • Building capacity of Human Resources and Organizations in infrastructure sectors compatible with international benchmarks.
